Paying It Forward

We have partnered with i=Change to connect with organisations in Australia that are working to create a better future.

We donate $1 from every order on your behalf to one of three causes aimed at restoring the land and oceans that make up our beautiful landscape, and supporting Australians who need a helping hand.

Thank you for trusting to purchase with us, we are delighted to have you with us on our journey to giving a little bit back.

FOODBANK AUSTRALIA

Feeding Aussies In Crisis

Foodbank already provides food relief to over 1 million Australians per month, yet now over 2 million Australian adults are experiencing food insecurity. COVID-19 has created huge demand for food relief that is outstripping supply.

Foodbank turns every $1 donated into two meals, allowing them to support communities across the country that are severely affected by the ongoing impacts of COVID-19.

Foodbank is delivering what is needed efficiently and effectively, assisting communities across the country during these extraordinary times.

GREENING AUSTRALIA

Restore The Land

Since European settlement, over 90 million hectares of land across Australia has been cleared, threatening species and the productivity of farmlands. Climate change will only exacerbate the impact with reduced rainfall, increased temperatures, droughts and more frequent extreme weather events.

Greening Australia aims to restore 330,000 hectares of native trees across Australia by 2030. Drawing on the expert input of Traditional Owners, scientists and local land managers, we will plant 500 million trees and shrubs to store carbon, create quality habitat for native wildlife, and restore degraded farmland. These 500 million trees and shrubs will absorb over 1.3 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year by 2030, and reduce atmospheric carbon pollution. This is one of the world’s largest and most ambitious ecological restoration programs.

Note: To ensure greatest impact, donations are sent to Greening Australia to support this and other related projects. This allows them to use their expertise to direct resources to be as effective as possible.

Reef Aid

The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s most extensive coral reef system, containing over 2,900 individual reefs, more than 1,000 islands, 6,000km2 of seagrass beds, and supporting the 60,000-year-old culture of over 70 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

As stewards of this natural icon, Australians know it’s more than a reef – it’s a culture, an inspiration, an income, and a home. Greening Australia is taking practical, science-led action through our Reef Aid program to tackle the biggest threats to facing the Reef: climate change and water pollution. In only five years, we’ve broken ground on over 30 projects from Rockhampton to Cairns and, working with 35 different landholders and First Nations groups, have restored 1,750 hectares of gullies and wetlands.

As a result we have made an immediate and tangible impact to protect our reef – achieving an average 80-90 percent improvement in water quality leaving our gully projects and stopping over 22,000 tonnes of sediment from polluting the Reef. The scale of this challenge means we must collaborate for impact. We’re inviting everyone to join our efforts, to give the Reef the best chance to be resilient, and recover from, climate impacts now and into the future.

SEABIN

Clean The Seas

Over 160 million tons of plastic is produced each year to create single-use disposable items and packaging.

With no established system to close the loop, this has led to over 70 years of accumulation of plastics in landfill (40%) and the environment (32%), with only 10% being recycled. Plastics end up in waterways and oceans, breaking down into ever smaller pieces called micro-plastics, well known for entering the food chain through the water, air and food that we consume.

Seabin Smart Tech, similar to a rubbish bin X pool skimmer, removes floating plastics as small as 2mm, filtering 600,000L of water per day from oil and surface pollutants.

Seabin Foundation is the not-for-profit arm of Seabin Project, an environmental start-up tackling the marine plastic pollution issue. A Seabin is similar to a rubbish bin on land, but it has a top ring levelled with the surface of the water and a pump underneath, which makes it also similar to a pool skimmer. Seabin Foundation consistently engages with communities using citizen science and STEM lessons to drive environmentally positive behavioural change through education. Citizen Science is the foundation behind the database which in turn provides a tool for policy changes and litter prevention strategies.

Note: To ensure greatest impact, donations are sent to Seabin Foundation to support this and other related projects. This allows them to use their expertise to direct resources to be as effective as possible.
