Based in Melbourne, Barnaby Lane started out with the intention to make high quality design accessible to everyone, allowing you to have stunning interiors without breaking the bank. Focusing on the principles of sleek, minimalist design, they have created truly stunning pieces that are made to last.
With quality and sustainability at the forefront of what they do, you'll find pieces made of 100% leather and certified recycled teak in their staple collection, including armchairs, dining chairs, bar stools, and benches.
Their latest collection, Sommer, is made up of gorgeous rattan and teak furniture. Standing out from their other pieces, their new range celebrates long summer days and balmy evenings.
We chat to Barnaby Lane's founder, Rae, on the intention and inspiration behind the brand...
What was the main goal when starting Barnaby Lane?
Barnaby Lane was launched 8 years ago, and at the time there was fabulous European design brands and cheap, often replica, brands - there was little in between. So we set out on a journey to fill that gap. To create high quality, hand crafted, genuine leather and solid wood products that met that mid range market. We believe in buying once and buying well, that furniture should be chosen carefully and live with you for years to come.
How would you describe the Barnaby Lane aesthetic?
One of our brand statements that still stands true for us today is - simplicity is underrated. We design furniture that will transcend styles, we want your furniture to be able to meet all of the interior design trends that pass through and still be a mainstay in your homes. Furniture that is modern and timeless.
What was the main inspiration behind both your Sommer and leather collections?
With all of our designs we want the natural materials to be the hero. We use only solid wood products, genuine leather that is sourced very carefully for quality and sustainable practices.
For those new to the brand, do you have any tips as the creator on how to style your products?
Styling our products, if we’ve designed them right, should be easy. We create neutral colour palettes and textures that can be styled into any home. So don’t be afraid go with what you LOVE! We cannot get over the Olive at the moment.
